Overview
Life has a way of throwing us curveballs that can be overwhelming. I am a mom to two young adults and have faced many life transitions and difficult challenges such as relationship separation, career changes, and caregiving for family members facing mental and physical health concerns. These transitions provided me an opportunity to learn who I really am, as opposed to who I think I should be. I draw from Solution Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, Narrative, Strength-Based, and Existential Therapy when working with clients. I also work with clients living with OCD using Exposure Response Prevention Therapy.
Each of our sessions will be adapted with your personal needs in mind. We will explore new ways to approach life changes and losses like divorce, grief, job loss, past trauma, addiction and any difficult life transition you are currently facing. Together we will discover ways to address your fears and discomfort with new beginnings by identifying your strengths, values, and meaning. Therapy can help you cope and build the best future possible. I look forward to meeting you soon.
Education
I have a masters degree in counselling psychology from Yorkville University and I am a certified career counsellor (CCDP).
Experience
I started my counselling journey as a career counsellor working with newcomers to Canada and after working with clients to help them build confidence and a new career identity I decided to expand my scope to become a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I have worked youth (18-25) and adults. I have helped people living with OCD learn to manage the symptoms using Explosure Response Therapy and I have helped clients learn to move forward after transitions such as divorce, job loss, death of a loved one and addiction. I have worked with people who have suffered abuse learn to appreciate themselves and trust others.
