Hilary MacKenzie

Accepting clients.
Having worked in community mental health, Hilary has always been a generalist, able to support clients with a variety of mental health issues & life stressors. Hilary most enjoys working with clients who are 18+, & are struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional eating & food addiction, & work stress & work/life balance. Hilary tailors her approach to her individual clients’ needs, creating a safe space for discussion & healing. Hilary uses an eclectic approach, drawing on CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy), ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), Solution Focussed, & Psychodynamic therapies. She incorporates mindfulness, humour, & practical strategies into her work with clients.

BA in Psychology from UPEI, 2000
MSW from Wilfrid Laurier, 2001
Experience
After graduating with her MSW, Hilary worked for two years on the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) of the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, Brockville campus. She then moved on to work for a community mental health agency for 8 years before starting her own private practice in 2012.
