Cynthia Schoppmann, MA, RP, CCC
Overview
I work from a client-centred approach, working collaboratively with my clients in determining their goals for therapy. I integrate a variety of theories and tools in working with my clients, since I believe a multi-disciplinary approach often works best. No problem is too big or too small to take that first step to reach out for help and support. I will work with you to help you feel empowered and able to navigate whatever difficult situations you might be facing.
I recognize that some individuals might not have health care benefits at their place of work and/or are in more constrained financial positions. I currently supervise interns in my private practice, offering sliding-scale rates. This allows clients to access the mental health support that they might need but at a cost that they can afford.
Education
I detain a Master's in Counselling and Spirituality from St-Paul's University (Ottawa, ON - 2009). I also have a post-graduate diploma in Couple's Counselling.
Experience
Over the years, I have worked in various counselling settings (EAP, Youville Centre, University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine, women's shelter - among others) allowing me to gain valuable experience working with a variety of issues and with diverse populations. I primarily work with older adolescents, adults and couples within my private practice. I have experience working with Indigenous and First Nations people, first responders, military members and veterans. I also frequently work with victims of crime, trauma and violence and receive cases through the Victim Quick Response Program - operated through the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario.
